The story of this Brazilian film revolves around Pedro (Rafael Vitti), a young chef about to fulfill his dream of opening his own restaurant. However, his plans are suddenly shaken by a dramatic diagnosis. During this difficult time, fate brings him to meet a stray dog with caramel-colored fur, simply named Caramelo. An authentic bond forms between them that will forever change Pedro’s life.

This film represents something new: it’s the first Netflix production featuring a Brazilian mixed-breed dog, Caramelo, a cultural and emotional symbol of Brazil. Their journey tells a story of resilience, love, and strength to face life’s unexpected challenges.

Alongside Rafael Vitti, the film brings together a well-known group of actors from the Brazilian scene. Arianne Botelho, known for her roles in productions like Verdades Secretas and Dom, plays one of the female leads, portraying a character connected to the central themes of the story. Alongside her, Noemia Oliveira (Sintonia, Cidade Invisível) and Ademara (Lov3, Modo Avião) complete the main trio, embodying different shades of friendship and personal search throughout the narrative.

The cast also includes Kelzy Ecard, a well-appreciated face in hit series such as Segundo Sol and Amor de Mãe, and Bruno Vinícius, who has appeared in youth productions for the Brazilian audience. Roger Gobeth (Malhação, O Rico e Lázaro) and Olívia Araújo (Um Ano Inesquecível: Verão) enrich the group with supporting roles that expand the family and social dimensions of the story.

Produced by Migdal Filmes in collaboration with Netflix, Caramelo combines the vision of director Diego Freitas with a screenplay by Rod Azevedo and Vitor Brandt, with consulting from Marcelo Saback. The animal trainers Luis Estrelas and Mike Miliotti, known for their work on Garfield, ensured the dog’s well-being during filming.
