Run Away: here’s when the new adaptation of a novel by Harlan Coben, the master of contemporary thrillers, is coming to Netflix.

OUT TODAY! A fresh Netflix thriller kicks off 2026 with secrets, twists, and a story built to pull you in fast. Netflix confirms itself as the ultimate home for adaptations of Harlan Coben’s novels, following the huge success of Fool Me Once and Missing You, released earlier this year. Netflix offers a truly extensive lineup of adaptations of the suspense master’s work. Back in August 2018, Netflix signed a five-year deal to adapt as many as 14 of Coben’s existing and upcoming titles. One of these adaptations is set to be released soon, starring James Nesbitt, who is already familiar to fans for his roles in previous Coben adaptations such as Missing You and Stay Close.

The miniseries Run Away is based on the 2019 novel of the same name and follows Simon (James Nesbitt), who leads an apparently peaceful life with his family. Everything changes one night when his eldest daughter, Paige, disappears, leaving a message that she does not want to be found. Simon immediately sets off to look for her. When he finally tracks her down in a city park, he discovers a profoundly changed young woman: Paige is shattered, high on drugs, and terrified. She is not alone, and a confrontation quickly spirals into a shocking and violent situation. Paige manages to escape, and Simon realizes that saving her will mean plunging into the dark and dangerous world she has fallen into—risking dragging his entire family into an abyss from which it will be hard to return.

Harlan Coben watched hundreds of auditions to choose the right actress to play the complex character of Paige. He’s now thrilled that audiences will get to see Ellie de Lange in the role. “Ellie captured both Paige’s strength and fragility, everything she goes through and all the secrets she hides,” Coben told Tudum, Netflix’s partner site. The writer also recounted how he immediately recognized Nesbitt as the ideal actor for Simon: “Jimmy has incredible freedom in his acting; he’s natural and authentic in every scene. He’s an empathetic actor, able to make the audience feel right there with him.”

James Nesbitt is a Northern Irish actor known for a long career in film and television, with standout roles in series such as Cold Feet, The Missing, and Bloodlands, as well as in the films of The Hobbit trilogy. Lucian Msamati, a British-Tanzanian actor, is acclaimed for his theater work with the Royal Shakespeare Company and the National Theatre and for series such as Game of Thrones, His Dark Materials, and Gangs of London.

Jon Pointing is a British actor and comedian who broke through with series such as Big Boys, Starstruck, and various comedy projects for Channel 4 and the BBC. Tracy-Ann Oberman is an English actress working across theater, TV, and radio, known for EastEnders, Friday Night Dinner, Doctor Who, and an extensive stage career in both classic and contemporary repertoire.

Even though Netflix is keeping the details under wraps, the first materials and statements from the creators suggest that this will be one of Coben’s darkest adaptations and the most charged with emotional tension. Run Away aims to build an atmosphere of growing paranoia, where nothing is a given and every decision Simon makes drags him deeper into a web of lies and hidden connections. The story promises to leave viewers feeling as disoriented as the protagonist, with the truth always staying just one step beyond his reach.
