Netflix’s South Korean superhero series, Cashero, has gone from a quiet release to a global breakout. Released on streaming on December 26, the show climbed quickly to No. 3 in Netflix’s Global Top 10, driven by its sharply original premise. At the center is Kang Sang-ung, an ordinary civil servant whose superhuman strength comes at a brutal cost: every use of his power drains his bank account. Instead of glorifying unlimited abilities, Cashero turns heroism into a series of high-stakes, irreversible choices.

Blending action, comedy, and drama, the series asks what being a hero really means when power is finite and consequences are unavoidable. Here is everything you need to know about Cashero – from the plot and cast to early reactions and why it’s rising so quickly in the Netflix Global Top 10 Shows. Cashero: All the key details

What Cashero is about

In Cashero, Kang Sang-ung is an ordinary civil servant whose life changes when he suddenly gains superhuman strength. The power itself is real, immediate, and overwhelming, but it comes with an unforgiving limitation: every time Sang-ung uses it, his money physically disappears. Bills and coins scatter, leaving him financially weaker even as he grows physically stronger.

The main trailer establishes this conflict early, showing Sang-ung and his girlfriend Min-suk reacting in disbelief as his powers repeatedly drain their savings. Min-suk urges him to stop, warning that his attempts to help others are jeopardizing their future. Yet Sang-ung finds himself unable to walk away when people are in danger, forcing him to choose between personal stability and moral responsibility.

As Sang-ung is drawn deeper into this hidden world, he encounters others with similarly conditional powers, expanding the story beyond a personal dilemma into a broader confrontation involving people who exploit power for influence and control.

Cashero cast: the main characters

Lee Jun-ho stars as Kang Sang-ung, a reluctant hero defined less by confidence than by instinct. His performance emphasizes exhaustion, hesitation, and empathy, presenting heroism as something reactive rather than chosen.

Kim Hye-jun plays Min-suk, Sang-ung’s girlfriend, whose perspective grounds the series emotionally. She represents the cost of heroism on ordinary life, constantly challenging Sang-ung to consider consequences beyond the moment.

Kim Byung-chul appears as Byeon Ho-in, a man whose ability allows him to phase through objects, but only when he is drunk. Kim Hyang-gi plays Bang Eun-mi, who gains telekinetic powers by consuming high-calorie food. Their presence reinforces the show’s central idea that power is never free and always comes with conditions.

The primary antagonists are members of the Human League, led by Jo Nathan (Lee Chae-min), Jo Anna (Kang Han-na), and Jo Won-do (Kim Eui-sung). Their involvement escalates Sang-ung’s struggles from isolated incidents into an organized and dangerous conflict.
